The Beausoleil/Gracelli Project

Rachel Beausoleil and Evandro Gracelli in concert
at the NAC’s 4th Stage.

The NAC’s 4th Stage presents the Beausoleil/Gracelli Project, on Thursday, December 2, 2010, at 7:30 p.m. Singer/songwriter Rachel Beausoleil and guitarist/composer Evandro Gracelli have prepared a whole new show of original songs, combined with some of their favourites from the Brazillian tradition. To bring it all alive they will be surrounded by Marc Decho on bass, Jasmin Lalande on woodwinds and Angel Araos on percussion.

The Beausoleil/Gracelli Project began several months ago when Rachel and Evandro met and decided to compose music together. It was a case of instant musical chemistry, fueled by their shared admiration for composers such as Milton Nascimento and Antonio Carlos Jobim. Then one night they played, on spec, with Marc Decho and Jasmin Lalande, and the sound lit up like it was on fire! With the addition of Angel Araos, this promises to be a very exciting night of original music and bossa nova/samba rhythms.

Brazilian born, Gracelli has been turning heads since he arrived in Canada over a year ago, with many local musicians vying for his time. Beausoleil, who is known locally for her dramatic singing style, is exploring her lifelong dream of writing her own music. This quintet is guaranteed to give you shivers.

Tickets are $20 and are available at the NAC box office, or through Ticketmaster (613) 755-1111. To hear samples from Rachel’s two existing CD’s, please visit www. rachelbeausoleil.ca.
